My Story

My soap making story began when I was given a melt and pour soap kit as a gift. The soap base was ready made, and the kit included fragrances and colours to add to the melted base. This sparked my interest in soap making and I began to explore all the wealth of articles, videos and resources online to learn how to make soap from scratch. I made my very first batch of soap in September 2020 and was hooked! There’s a limit to how much soap one family can use though, and the idea for The Fragrant Soap Company began to form.

As I gained experience and knowledge, I began to formulate my own unique soap recipe. I love the multi-sensory treat of using my soaps in the shower and for hand washing, so it was important to me that they should look, smell and feel great. I also wanted to ensure that my soap was friendly to the planet. I experimented with different oils, butters and other ingredients until I created the perfect recipe to meet these aims.

All my soaps have been certified through a Cosmetic Product Safety Report. This means that a chemist has analysed the recipes and confirmed they are safe. This is a required step in the UK for any cosmetic products which are to be sold. Every soap variety is also notified to the Office for Product Safety and Standards, another safety requirement for selling soap.
